Statoil | ONS, Stavanger, Norway

The Best Stand Award

Statoil’s global rebrand received a strong accolade when the Norwegian-based energy company won the Best Stand Award at ONS in Stavanger. Our high-impact stand impressed judges at the biennial ONS, one of the world’s leading oil and energy industry trade shows. Cato Meling, Statoil executive in charge of developing the stand, said:

“We’re incredibly proud of this award. It shows that we’ve achieved what we aimed for, and that our new brand strategy works.”

Every element of the stand design reflects Statoil’s new brand, while the overall ‘wow’ factor helps convey Statoil’s values and ambition.

Finn E. Krogh, chair of the ONS Best Stand Award jury added:

“This year the standard of quality of the stands has been greater than ever and with 1351 contenders – it was no easy task to find the best. We looked at concept and design, the use of presentation and display technologies, the knowledge and hospitality of the stand personnel and the stands ability to function as a meeting place. In addition we considered the environmental aspects of the nominated stands.”

The judging panel were particularly impressed by the “impressive architectural design emphasized by the special lighting effects.” They also praised the well-functioning area for live presentations, the energy-saving solutions and the re-use of materials.

An environmental perspective was core to the stand’s design thinking from the outset. Approximately 80% of the lighting used low-energy LEDs – and the entire stand is specially constructed for re-use across a three-year programme of shows around the world.

“Our stand had no printed matter and instead we tested new digital technology,” says Christine Wigand, responsible for Statoil’s ONS project. “This reflects our focus on applying new technology in our activities.”

ONS, under the patronage of HM The King Harald V, is an innovative “total concept” show combining an exhibition, conference and cultural festival. With 1351 stands and 42,000 visitors from 100 countries, ONS has become a globally important energy sector event since it began 1974.

“Our approach always starts with a careful reading of every brand element,” says Enigma creative director Alan Surman. “We then add outstanding creative design, often with innovative technology, to really bring a brand alive within the demanding 3D environment.”

Enigma has a long track record of creating award-winning stands with clients at major shows around the world. It seems the combination of an innovative client, a strong brand and Enigma expertise has once again caught the discriminating eye of a show’s jury.

Statoil | European Tradeshow Program

As part of our global exhibition program Enigma have been busy designing various size footprints across Europe. A glimpse of the shows provided in the photos include:

EAGE Vienna - The European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers Show is the world’s largest and most comprehensive Geosciences event. The show attracts visitors from over 100 different countries and moves to a different location every year. In 2012 Copenhagen hosts EAGE - with the show being on Scandinavian soil again the (design) bar is set even higher.

Renewables Glasgow – Attended by nearly 300 exhibitors in the Renewable Energy sector making this the UK’s premier event.  The 3D theatre we used was very popular and a crowd puller in many different ways. Manchester is the next destination for this show a region well known for its wind (and rain) - very appropriate!

UTC Bergen – The Underwater Technology Conference is attended by personnel related to the subsea field of the petroleum industry. The straplines you see on our high profile graphics were specially designed to create huge impact... and talking of impact, the show was attended for the first time by a member of the Norwegian Royal Family, HRH Crown Prince Haakon.

Statoil | North & South American Tradeshow Program

As part of our global exhibition program Enigma have been busy designing various size footprints across North & South America. A glimpse of the shows provided in the photos include:

AAPG New Orleans, USA – The American Association of Petroleum Geologists show highlights the latest developments and advances in petroleum geosciences. The show attracts over 200 exhibitors and visitors are in attendance from 76 different countries. Our 3D theatre was again very popular as a focal point for important presentations.

SEG San Antonio, USA – The Society of Exploration Geophysicists show is the world’s largest oil, energy and mineral exposition showcasing cutting edge technology for use in exploration and associated industries. Moving to a different location every year in 2012 the show visits Las Vegas, a city renowned as the mecca of gambling – here’s hoping our booth is a sure-fire winner!

DUG Fort Worth, USA – The Developing Uncoventional Gas conference & exhibition is designed to reach individuals and companies at the forefront of shale gas exploration. This 6th show in the series 2,400 people attended to hear more about this exciting development. Our stand design utilised the angularity and graphic style of other shows whilst touch screens provided an important focus on technology, appropriate given the show subject.

ROG Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – Rio Oil & Gas takes place every 2 years and was first held back in 1982. Over 1,200 exhibitors and 5,000 delegates from 23 different countries attend the largest tradeshow in Latin America. Large format graphics created impressive impact - with 2012 the 30th anniversary of the show can our design provide a fitting celebration?
