NXP | European Tradeshow Program

Beating the Challenge

NXP Semiconductors is one of those global companies (with operations in over 25 countries) who make the things that make your life possible. Their products cover a huge range of sectors including 'automotive, identification, wireless infrastructure, lighting, industrial, mobile, consumer and computing applications.'

NXP wanted exciting and innovative ideas for their major European Tradeshow program, including CARTES & IDentification in Paris, embeddedworld in Nuremberg, electronica in Munich, European Microwave Week (EuMW) in Manchester and Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.

NXP's vision statement reads “A world where everyone can always connect to information, entertainment and service” and with their stunningly colourful logo, it was an exciting brief to tackle.

The images above are for the important CARTES exhibition in Paris - a venue that created a real challenge. “Our aim was to create a real impact for NXP despite an unusual long an narrow floorspace,” explains Creative Director Alan Surman. "So each demo area was identified using the distinctive NXP logo colours, all set within a clean white environment. The demo areas were further enhanced using a sweeping “orbiting planet” feature to integrate and connect all of their key business sectors together beneath the NXP umbrella."

Meanwhile at MWC, the combination of a pavilion on the avenue outside for hospitality and a stand - and car - inside, made a big impact, as Project Designer Tom Prendergast - making his directorial debut - shows

Acision | Mobile World Congress, Barcelona

Doubled Up

Acision – formerly LogicaCMG – helps 230 customers in 100 countries across 6 continents with a proven portfolio of products and services that serve 1.8 billion subscribers. From texts to videomail, it’s a fast-growing world leader in mobile data, with a strong look and feel. Enigma had worked with LogicaCMG on their highly successful eye-catching stand at Mobile World Congress (MWC) using cutting edge technology in the first year of a 3 year contract.

But now the company was Acision – renamed and rebranded – could Enigma get that kind of impact with an entirely new look using the same stand?

Enigma’s mastery at fusing creative solutions with technologically demanding specifications led to us flowing an entirely new look and feel for Acision across the same stand structure we had used for LogicaCMG.

We created two ‘innovation lounges’ and a cool product demo area for Acision that looked bold, very different – and yet delivered on the new brand with precision and power.

A really funky interactive feel across the entire stand really encouraged high levels of engagement and participation with the new brand and its offerings.

Our imposing double-decker structure provided an excellent showcase to project the brand. Meanwhile, our renowned attention to detail throughout the design included creating an impressive bar and lounge area experience.

Acision was, once again, extremely happy with the result, and our successful working relationship continues to go from strength to strength.

COMPAQ | ITU Telecom World, Geneva

The Power of 3D

Compaq had just acquired Digital Equipment Company (DEC) and wanted to launch the new brand in the Telecoms market. Visitor perceptions ranked DEC at 50, but Compaq wanted to make a splash to VIPs, Government delegations and technical managers. How could Compaq impress in an environment dominated by much larger and better established competitors?

Enigma's solution created a powerfully themed dynamic 3 storey structure, based on a logical pathway. Visitors started with a huge 360º data and video projection screen entrance before moving on to product solutions, hands on experiences, future products and innovation, theatres and meeting spaces.

The results were outstanding. Compaq shot up 45 places in the visitor perception ranking to grab a Top 5 spot, outclassing several bigger and better-known businesses. Sales exceeded expectations by over 20% - and Enigma went on to develop and implement the next stage in the brand rollout.

Panasonic | IBC, Amsterdam

Taking the Wider View

The International Broadcast Convention is the premier show for the broadcasting industry. With two stands, and one of the world’s best known brands, our designs for the shows set out to create in visitors a powerful sense of a Panasonic ‘world’.

We combined bold lighting and strong logo projection to reach sight-lines in all directions.

Striking high impact designs and the clever use of shapes helped ensure visitors felt they were offered “the wider view” – as promised in Panasonic’s strapline.

PACE | IBC, Amsterdam

The Art of Impact

Enigma has traditionally done outstanding work at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) for clients like Panasonic (also in this portfolio) and SGT, so we were extremely pleased to be commissioned by PACE, whose headquarters are in the magnificent Salts Mill – alongside a fine selection of work by David Hockney.

PACE is the world’s largest developer of digital set-top box technology and the Group ‘develops and delivers innovative technologies, products and services for world leading operators that enable entertainment and converged communication services inside, outside and around the digital home.’

PACE’s IBC stand was right in the middle of the main exhibition hall, and we used a mezzanine split deck approach.

The key challenge was to effectively display a lot of different products. We solved this with ‘demo walls’ on both sides of the structure, while retaining an open and accessible feel to the stand.

The light, open and inviting approach was followed through on the hospitality deck at the back. Combined with bold graphics across both levels, the stand solved the key challenge - and still made a really strong impact.
